Referred to as Mali Garnet is a mixture of the Grossular and Andradite species.
It is one of the rarest varieties in the Garnet group. The Republic of Mali is the only known source of this beautiful gem, where it was discovered in 1994.
Geological Terminology:
- A series between Andradite and Grossular
- Resinous, opaque, mustard yellow, isometric Grandite Crystal.
- There is a light green-brown tinge to the crystal faces.
- Smaller isometric Garnet crystals have developed on the surface of this main Grandite Garnet.
- Growth patterning and internal stress are present.

- In most cases, damage will be present from where the specimen was removed from its parent material.
- Sandy residue may be present.
- Minor scattered chips to the crystal edges and faces may be present.
