Little metallic 'houses' of Hausmannite have developed all over the matrix with white specks of Calcite. There are a few of the Calcite crystals that are manganese rich and fluoresce a lovely bright pink!

The Geological Approach: 
  • Sub-metallic, opaque, steel-grey, tetragonal Hausmannite crystals.
  • The Hausmannite crystals have developed all over the manganese rich matrix.
  • Pearly, sub-opaque, white, trigonal calcite crystals have developed on the Hausmannite surface.
  • A few of the Calcite crystals are UV reactive.
  • Contact damage to the perimeter of the specimen and crystals closest to the perimeter

  • In most cases, damage will be present from where the specimen was removed from it's parent material.
  • Sandy residue may be present.
  • Minor scattered chips to the crystal edges and faces may be present.
